Last month I got a new objective. These are the first photo’s I took with it.
I collected some panorama pictures I took over the years and I will post them here.

Today was a very sunny day. I was taking some photos and then I wanted to try something new. I tried to make the pictures look as if it was night. I took some pictures, while I held the flash and manually flashed it to the object. 9 out of 10 pictures were pitch black. Most pictures are taken with a shutterspeed of 1/640 and Aperture of F22. I used a “Canon EOS 450D” with kitlens and a “” Metz 48 AF-1 digital” Flash
This is an original shot (no editing), on which you can see how I hold the flash to light the flowers.

Here I pumped up the RAW to kind of show the scene around the flower. So I guess this way of lighting is good when you don’t have a studio.

I used Photoshop to edit the RAW picture and I changed the levels and curves.

This is, to my opinion, the best picture I took today.

This is the same flower, but just a little difference in angle and lighting.

And the last picture for now

Today I continued the car and I think I made some nice progress. But it crashed one time..maya..not the car.. Here is what I have so far
another sideview

and the rear I’m working on now.

I decided to make my car design in 3D. I want to use Autodesk Maya to model it. I sketched the design a lot lately and in Maya I started off with another sketch (curves) to make some guidelines. I didn’t make any blueprints what so ever, so it’s just the sideview that inspires me.
This is the last version of the design

And the first preview of what I started in Maya

and another view

The last few days, I’m working on a new look for my blog. I want to show you a screenshot of what the idea is.

If anyone has suggestions, don’t hesitate to give them to me.
Recently I have been watching more tutorials on drawing. In the tutorial the artist showed how he uses a blue pencil to make the idea. You can keep changing it until you’re ready to make clean lines with fineliner. But instead of using fineliners I thought it would be nice to try CorelDraw. So this is the first attempt.
The sketch

I drew my logo on paper and then edited it in Illustrator.
My logo is more than just ‘Robert de Groot design’. For many years I called myself ‘Venom Design’, but knowing that many people use that name, I use my own name now. But my logo still says VD, because it’s a part of me now.

and the Illustrator version

After showing it to people, my friend JD wasn’t sure about it and gave me some suggestions. I think he was right, so I played with the V-shape a bit more. This is the result

This is my first fully working rig with soft skin.

UV Layout, so the textures will fit in well.

Render with as purpose to practise lightning.

This is another old project, but I do want to show it to everyone anyway. I made it in Adobe After Effects and I edited the video around the music.
The RC Cars in the movie belong to me and my good friend Kong Yiu. It’s our hobby to change the setup and to add new parts. The chassis we use it the TA-05 model from Tamiya. But that’s pretty much all from Tamiya we use. Our latest part is a countersteer set, which makes drifting more realistic looking (this part wasn’t used in the video).
